All appointed men are being told they have to pioneer now!
by stuckinarut2 inyes, you read correctly..... all appointed men have been told in a new letter that they have to pioneer to "set the lead" whenever there is a "special" campaign month.
they use some scripture saying that these ones have to show by example.... so for any of us who are appointed and have learned ttatt, it is going to be very hard to fade during this time!.

I think that might be possible. I think there are such signs at some buildings in Brooklyn.

Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

But for a JW these questions might be of interest, since the JW dogma is that a "day" in genesis could be thousands or millions of years. JW's are not young earth creationists.
By the way, I think that earlier was one creation day in genesis said to be 7000 years, but that changed later.
I think DOTs reasoning could be a goo way of questioning literalists as the JWs...and it also is related to moral philosophy....Why did God punish even the animals for the sin of two humans.

I agree, the WTS have to do something about their productivity.......even if their main goal is to keep the rank and file busy.

Is my clinging on to a belief in a Creator doing me any harm?
by KateWild ini use the word clinging, as i feel that is what i am doing.
as far as my knowledge of science, namely chemistry is concerned, i am satisfied there is evidence of a creator.
i am happy to believe this.

My impression is that you are still deprogramming, Kate. Just go easy with yourself. Give yourself time.....you don't have to always thing about theology/God.

Letter to BOE: Adjustment in process for appointing elders and ministerial servants
by pixel inhello, you read it here first!.
governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
to all congregations.

I this comes from the legal departement.
Maybe it has to do with each congregation being a separate legal unit (I hope this is understandable, I don't know how to put it in english) and not to be directed by the WTS. The WTS and the GB seems to separate themselves from the congregations, and the reason is probably all those lawsuits.
They throw their COs and elders under the bus........that's sad for thos loyal company men.

Interesting things happen when poeple are allowed to think. Even theologians can think freely.
Yes, for a believer these are important questions..why did God create such a fragile creation? Yet it was perfect.
The natural question to ask one self is if Genesis is just a myth among others.

It's just so ridiculous......theologions doesn't seem to know basics about biology/ecology, what an ecosystem is with producents etc.
An ecosystem without predators /carnivores would just collapse. Herbivores would overpopulate the world, consume all eatable plants and then have to die in mass starvation after the collapse of the eco system.. Paradise is not bilogically realistic. Blief in an earthley paradise is just outright stupid. Is paradise being surrouded by billions of rats and beetles? Time to learn some biology, JWs

Meeting with an Elder and his wife

The goal of active JWs is not to answer questions, it's just to preach. It's almost impossible to get strightforward honest answers from JWs if you have critical question.
They did not lie, they just applied some "theocratic warfare strategy". Hiding the real truth to an outsider is not considered lying among JWs.

Unbelievable Watchtower quote from 1962!!.. ''Don't waste time speculating on what year Armageddon will come'' (check it on cd-rom if you like)
by defender of truth inwt 6/15 1962 p.380-383.
"likewise it is possible to spend valuable time speculating on matters concerning the future.
one might ask, in what year will armageddon begin?...jehovah has not provided answers at this time.

It's ironic...just 5 years later they started that great 1975 hype. Didn't fred Franz read that WT article in 1962? Maybe he just forgot about it!
